| dc.description.abstract | This study is to assess the relationship between parental education level and child problems (health and education). Parents are the carriers and emblems of communally generated and mediated knowledge. Therefore, the study aims to understand the extent to which parental educational level promotes empowerment of children in terms of health and education. The following ‘pathways’ are investigated: educated parent’s income; their exposure to media; literacy; labour market participation; and knowledge on health. The study estimates simple linear models and finds that parental education is positively associated with child education. Parental education level generates healthy economic environment in the family, and positively associated with children’s human capital formation. In this situation, the study suggests that policy makers must level their attempts at policies to empower of children through human capital formation. However, from any development programme which is to develop the well-being of families should attend the child education and health. | en_US |
