Abstract:
Work life balance is an important topic in present situation of the world. It is a main issue faced by many employees in any kind of industry due to rapid growth of the business environment. According to the literature, Work life balance is considered as important factor for the organisation as well as for the employee. Family and Employment are the most important elements in everyone’s life. Work Life Balance strategies help to reduce absenteeism, turnover, stress and increase performance and satisfaction of an employee. Therefore, the balance of Work life and Family life can be affect to the success of the employee. This problem of balancing work life and family life is more prominent among female employees. Hence this study is based on private bank female executives in the Colombo district. The main aim of this research study is to assess the impact of Work Life Balance on the Employee Job Performance. This study includes one independent variable (Work life balance), one dependant variable (Employee job Performance) and one mediating variable (Employee job Satisfaction). The simple random technique is used for the sample of the study to select 115 executive level female staff in 82 branches of a private bank situated in Colombo district of Sri Lanka. Data were gathered through a standard questionnaire. The correlation and the regression analyses were used to test the research hypothesis. Findings revealed that there is a positive significant relationship between Work life balance and Employee job performance, there is a positive significant relationship between Work life balance and Employee job satisfaction, there is a positive significant relationship between Employee job satisfaction and Employee job performance. Therefore, full mediation effect is observed in data and the research findings explores that the better work life balance of the employees leads to increased employee job satisfaction and employee job performance.
